Hugh Jackman was born in Sydney, Australia on October 12, 1968. He is the youngest of 5 children. Hugh has a BA in Communications with a major in journalism from the University of Technology in Sydney, Australia. After graduation he pursued acting at the Western Australia Academy of Performing Arts. Soon after completing this he was offered a staring role in Corelli, an Australian TV prison drama. Here he met his soon-to-be wife, actress Deborah-Lee Furness.

Hugh has proved himself to be quite the versatile actor. He stared as Gaston in the Australian Production of Beauty and the Beast, Joe Gillis in the Australian production of Sunset Boulevard, and in 1998 he was cast as Curly in the Royal National Theater's production of Trevor Nunn's Oklahoma! He made his film debut in 1998 as Jack in Paperback Hero, and again in 1999 as Wace in Erskineville Kings which earned him a nomination for Best Actor of 1999 by the Australian Film Institute. In July of 2000, Hugh made his worldwide debut as Wolverine/Logan in the hit movie X-Men.
